Terms & conditions.
The plain-English terms behind every load, hire and collection we do.
Last updated 9 October 2026
01About these terms
These terms apply to every order you place with Sheffield Aggregates & Haulage Ltd ("we", "us", "our") — whether that's a delivery of aggregates, sand, soil or chippings, tipper hire, muck away or site clearance. They apply however you order: by phone, by email, through this website or through a trade account.
Our Delivery Terms form part of these terms and cover site access, tipping and what happens on the day. If anything in a written quote or account agreement we've given you differs from these terms, the quote or agreement wins.
We are a company registered in England & Wales (company number 15584386), registered office 56 Manor Road, Wales, Sheffield, S26 5PD. Our depot is at Unit 2 Old Waleswood Colliery Industrial Estate, Mansfield Road, Wales, Sheffield, S26 5PQ.
02Quotes and orders
Asking for a quote — on this website, over the phone or by email — doesn't commit you to anything. A quote is our price for the job you describe, based on the material, quantity, delivery postcode and access information you give us.
- Quotes are valid for 14 days unless we say otherwise. Quarry and fuel prices move, so we may need to re-quote after that.
- If the job turns out different from what you told us (a different site, more loads, harder access, longer waiting), we'll tell you the revised price before we carry on where we can.
- An order is confirmed when we confirm it to you — by phone, text or email — with a delivery date or slot.
- The tonnage calculator on this website gives an estimate only. You're responsible for checking the quantity you order is right for your job.
03Prices and payment
Prices are quoted per load, per tonne or per day (for tipper hire), as stated on your quote. We'll always tell you whether a price includes VAT.
- Account customers: payment is due within the terms agreed when your trade account was opened, shown on each invoice.
- Everyone else: payment is due before or on delivery, unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
- If an invoice isn't paid on time, we may pause further deliveries until it is. For business customers we may also charge interest and recovery costs under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
- Extra charges we may make, which we'll explain when quoting: waiting time beyond the time allowed, failed or aborted deliveries, and part loads.
04Materials
Aggregates, sand, soil and stone are natural products. Colour, grading and moisture content can vary between loads and between quarries, and from the photos on this website, which are a guide only.
- The quantity delivered is the weight shown on the weighbridge ticket or delivery note for that load.
- Please check each load as soon as it's tipped — before you spread, mix or lay it. Once material has been used we can't accept a complaint about its type or condition.
- It's your responsibility to make sure the material you order is suitable for what you're using it for. If you're unsure, ask us before you order.
05Ownership and risk
Material becomes your responsibility (risk passes to you) once it's tipped or unloaded at the delivery point. It stays ours until it's been paid for in full. If it isn't paid for, we may recover any material that hasn't been used or built into anything.
06Tipper hire
Our tippers are hired with one of our drivers. The driver stays in charge of the vehicle at all times.
- Day work is charged for the hours agreed when booking, measured from when the vehicle arrives at your first collection or site to when it's released.
- The driver can refuse any load, route or tipping position they think is unsafe, illegal, or would overload the vehicle.
- You must make sure anything we carry for you is accurately described, and is not hazardous waste unless we've agreed in writing that we can take it.
07Muck away and site clearance
We take inert and non-hazardous spoil as a registered waste carrier and handle it in line with the waste Duty of Care. To do that legally we need an accurate description from you of what's being removed.
- Tell us before collection if the waste contains anything other than clean soil, stone, brick or concrete — for example plasterboard, timber, plastics, asbestos, contaminated ground or Japanese knotweed.
- If a load turns out to contain material that wasn't declared, we may refuse it, or charge you any extra disposal, reclassification or testing costs.
- We'll give you a waste transfer note for the waste we take. You should keep it for at least two years.
08Changes and cancellations
If you need to change or cancel a delivery or a hire booking, call the depot on 07807 554593 as early as you can — ideally by the end of the working day before.
- If you cancel after the material has been loaded or the vehicle has set off, we may charge for the costs we've already incurred.
- Material that has been delivered to order can't be returned once tipped, unless it was wrong or not as described.
If you're a consumer and ordered without visiting the depot, you normally have 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. If you ask us to deliver within those 14 days, you'll still need to pay for anything we've already done, and that right doesn't apply once loose material has been delivered and mixed with other materials or soil on your site.
09Our liability
We'll carry out our work with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
- Business customers: we aren't liable for loss of profit, loss of business, or any indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability for any order is limited to the price of that order.
- Consumers: you have legal rights in relation to materials that are faulty or not as described, and to services not carried out with reasonable care and skill. These terms don't affect those rights.
- We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control — for example severe weather, road closures, quarry stoppages or vehicle breakdowns. We'll let you know and rearrange as soon as we can.
- Damage to driveways, kerbs, drains or surfaces when our vehicle leaves the public highway at your request is covered in our Delivery Terms.
10Problems and complaints
If something isn't right, tell us within 48 hours of delivery or collection — by phone on 07807 554593 or by email to admin@sheffieldaggregate.co.uk — with photos if you can. Please don't use material you're unhappy with before we've had the chance to look at it.
11General
- We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one on this page when the order was confirmed.
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have jurisdiction.
- How we handle your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Speak to the depot before you order — we'd rather sort it up front.
